Akron United Joins the NOSL
AKRON, Ohio. — The Northern Ohio Soccer League is pleased to announce that Akron United FC has joined the NOSL.
Akron United was founded in 2020 and played five seasons in the Akron Premier League and competed in the North Coast Soccer League in 2024. The club, founded by William Antunez, won the Akron Premier League twice (2022, 2024) and were runners-up one time (2023).
“We are extremely excited to join the NOSL as we not only continue to grow our club but also help develop soccer for our region," said club Vice President Tyler Sprockhoff. "Being part of a league continuing to grow aligns with where we want to be as a club. We're ready to be competitive, have fun, and play the game we love!”
Akron United becomes the third APL team to join the NOSL since 2023 after Mahoning Trumbull and Gavrilo Princip joined the league in the last two seasons. NOSL Director of Operations Braden Mast is pleased to have Akron United join the league.
"We are happy to have Akron United join the fold," Mast said. "Their leadership group revealed their ambitions to play strong competition and be a part of something special. We were impressed with their vision and goals throughout the interview process and are excited to see them compete in 2025."
Akron United will begin play in the NOSL Men's Second Division in May 2025. Their home field is to be determined.
